Re: [orca-list] Nautilus slowness

Hi Thomas,
Of course it is not too difficult for going into the launcher and removing the pen drive.
But I must say one thing for sure.
If Unity 2d has to go away, so be it, but Nautilus must improve and I guess some one from that team is reading these emails or we might forward it to their mailing list. The slowness of the file browser, the bug in rename text entry etc has to be restored to how it was before.
Happy hacking.

Hi Krishnakant,

Now, there is the rub. Its a catch 22 situation, because you are right. On one hand its undesirable to have the sidebar active because it slows Nautilus down. On the other if you disable the sidebar you can't safely remove external hard drives, pen drives, flash cards, etc.

Hi Thomas,
The only problem I see with this approach of turning off the side bar is that now I can't safely remove my pendrive by pressing the tab key to the list of devices from within the file browser.
I used to do it before and it was very good.
Now I need to go to the launcher and safely remove the pen drive.
Happy hacking.
