Turning on an included feature is not the same as installing it from
somewhere else

Oh, okay so we're on the same page then? Having some application
switcher.

Yea I apologize that was a bit unfair. I guess I'm just disappointed
that the area could be used for something, it's currently not. There is
something the devs have planned, but I'm not clear on what it is or
when, so as of right now it's wasted space.

The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. Combine multiple
calendars with Hotmail. Get busy.
BIG BIG BIG plus +1 on the idea from Tomasz Sterna!! This:
http://codex.xiaoka.com/~smoku/tmp/app_menu_mockup.png
is the way to go! I was just typing a long winded response advocating
doing exactly this.
I agree that a dock probably isn't the way to go, but I am 100%
positive that it needs a "window list" type of functionality. The
overview appears smooth to me, however it's the
visible window movement that's distracting and sometimes disorienting.

Google Instances) which usually happens...uhm never?
I have 4 Google instances open right now- 3 different Google trends
pages and 1 search results page. I also get the same thing when I have
2 different Redmine instances open, like right now, while I work on 2
projects at once. I daily have 2 to 4 spreadsheets open in OO that I
like to compare side to side (those I REALLY can't tell the difference
on). They all look the same from the overview.
What Tomasz Sterna proposes solves my issues, keeps the existing look
and feel, and adds consistency to the interface. The running
application is the only element on the top bar that doesn't have a
"clickable" functionality, and when I first started using the shell I
kept clicking on it.
PERFECT!
