Hi,
it currently sorts only messages you see. Deleted (or Junk) messages
are skipped by default for regular folders (not Trash/not Junk
folders).
Paul's case shows that he deleted root of the thread, which means that
either the indirect artificial thread root will be picked (as I
mentioned in the other mail in this thread), or the both subthreads
should be left as new roots of the threads and be made one thread only
after the view is regenerated. Such behavior might be hard to get
right, I think.
