oh sure
I've got a git repo of fixes. IF you know how to switch espeak over
to us english, it's in the orca preferences, in the voice combobox,
you can clone my git repo and get my fixes. The git repo is at:
http://www.github.com/jticket1024/espeak-en-us.git. Just clone that
with your favorite git program, run the script inside,
espeak-compile.sh, which will copy the files into the proper place for
espeak to use. If you're not using the latest development release of
espeak, you might want to upgrade to it, by building it from source,
or if your distribution has it, installing a development package. In
ubuntu you can get all teh build dependencies of espeak by running,
sudo apt-get build-dep espeak. Then download the latest development
version of espeak from, http://espeak.sf.net/test/latest.html. Extract
the archive and run make && sudo make install. Installing from a
distro package is much easier, and should auto update when new
releases are out. If you use arch, grab espeak-test from the aur with
a program like yaourt, or packer. which will build and install
automatically.
I think you can use my repo on the stable versions, but I've got
complaints from espeak about wrong dictionary version, so it might
not work If you have any fixes you want done, send them to me at
coffeekingms gmail com, and I'll do my best to put them in. I don't
know how to do rule based fixes, however. That's why I'm struggling
with the main developer to implement them. He speaks brittish english,
and sometimes US english and brittish english rules are different.
Thanks

Hello That's pretty sad to see eloquence being dead and it's a
closed nonfree software. TBH, When you're not a native english
speaker, it's so hard to understand espeak british. It'd be cool to
find a way to fix that period problem with eloquence. Ken, is it
possible that you share your espeak U.S thing that you made?

hi That's an excellent option, actually. I work on a personal set
of user dictionaries, but if we come up with one I can easily trim
it down to a manageable size. Thanks Kendell clark

hi I know of this one. It has something to do with period
symbols, followed by an underline, followed by a 0. It
makes eloquence announce that as D O T H U N D R E D
followed by whatever you're listening to. It turns ._2 to D
O T H U N D R E D T W E N T Y , ./._3 into ... etc.
I wonder whether that can be worked around using user
dictionaries. A while back, I committed a patch to
speech-dispatcher that was submitted to enable the
ibmtts/voxin user dictionaries. I haven't looked into how to
use them myself, but perhaps we can come up with a list of
issues and try to work around them with a default user
dictionary shipped with speech-dispatcher.
