Re: [orca-list] Indicators [was "Re: Connecting to a wireless network"]

Yes that computer is using or appears to be using compiz. Changing login to Ubuntu Classic (No effects) did not change it. If I try "metacity --replace" it appears to lock up Gnome.

The only reason I have for thinking it is running compiz is that if I run gnome-wm to try to reset the default desktop manager I get a compiz error.

So that leads to two questions:

1. How do I tell for sure which manager it is using?

2. How do I change manager if changing the login settings does not work?

Are you running compiz by any chance? If so, there is a chance compiz may have stolen Windows M. Compiz is
also not set up to allow you to switch between panels. The best solution is to run metacity, and the easiest
way to change that is to change your login session to Ubuntu no effects at login time.

As I said in an earlier mail, also make sure you have the indicator applets on your panel as well.
