Hi,
I think the problem is related to pulseaudio.
The libao pulse driver doesn't implement any buffering stuff.
When you try to set orca's speech rate to 100% the samples are very
short and pulse tries to play it after buffering a few of it.
Workaround: reduce speechrate to 90% in orca to avoid the keyecho
problem.
It's a temporary workarround and i will do more work on this!
Another workarround is to use a different voice type.
Unfortunately voice variants can't be selected in orca.
espeak male3 seems working well with libao->pulse.
