Hi Hermann,
Do not mix up alsa and pulseaudio apps.
E. G. try to use speechd, load only espeak module and change in espeak.conf audiooutput to pulse.
If you want to use oss apps together with pulse and speechd then use
padsp command like this:
padsp mpg321  ...
or 
padsp mplayer -ao oss ....
