You're not misreading, I'm just unclear.  I meant to say that Evo should
be supporting the default of text email, as in through such
opportunities as "user prefers text email" or something.  Not Zed made
it sound as if the current option should be changed, while I would say
that a binary "either likes HTML or text" is a suitable option.

To me, it seems that text email *is* the default, since in the 
Tools->"Composer Preferences" General tab, "Format messages in
HTML" is *not* on by default (I think).  Also, on the Contact
window, "Want to receive HTML mail" is off by default.

While I disagree with NotZed on the modernity of using HTML mail,
I *am* glad that the default is text.

But then again, I work on OpenVMS systems, and think that COBOL is
a great language for developing "data processing" apps.
