Re: [orca-list] ot: ecasound and lv2

I think it's a question of LV2 plugin specs. I'm not sure if there are control ports to pass string values.

Commercial plugins on Linux. I have only tried Pianoteq. It worked, but again: only 0 to 1 ranges. Pianoteq is sold in different formats. I've heard the former Linux DSP plugins work. Can't recall their new name right now. Not sure though, if you can register them on your own.

I don't know of many other commercial Linux plugins by name, I know there are a few. But most are VST. VST is not useable, as far as I know. Not for us, anyway.

The company U-HE used to make Linux versions of their synthesizers, but they've stopped. The developer who ensured compatibility has stopped the work, if I remember correctly.

There are still good LADSPA plugins around and they work very stably with Ecasound and other applications. You'll find a lot of good bread and butter stuff. Nothing fancy, perhaps, but solid.
