Ecasound only gets maintenance these days. The LV2 support was added by a contributor. Pity, since I use Nama/Ecasound for all my recording work. If that stops working at some point, I'll be buggered. :) Ardour - as some other completely inaccessible DAWs - has one major issue: the main widget - or widget library - for the user interface is inaccessible. So changing that, would mean changing gigantic heaps of code. As much as I hate to admit it, but I can understand them. It's still ironic,. at least, that Linux seems the only major OS right now wihtout an accessible DAW on the desktop. :(
Well, my last conversation about that indicated at least one of the developers actually thinks it wouldn't be efficient or something like that. Also I am not sure if it is really as hard as they think, depends on the architecture, if they use gtk canvas and draw elements on it... Other things don't seem to work. Ecasound works but I think it's a bit buggy to be honest. Is there anything that we could make accessible? the audacity is more of a thing using main widget library that is itself not really accessible, so I guess audacity is more unfixable than ardour is, but I may be wrong.
If you are interested in getting Nama to work, afterall, feel free to mail me off-list.
As I am currently playing with stuff I probably don't need anything badly, especially that I am unlikely to use these tools for real, but I am the only person using linux in my group of blind friends, so I have the easiest access to these stuff even if I don't really understand many of them. Of course pipewire is another thing because I have an use for it's jack-like capabilities, for example easier redirection of sound from apps to things like voip. Like redirecting a screenreader or phone if I want to show something, that's really a nice thing I can do now with qjackctl. Even patchbay works.
Best wishes, Jeanette
