Hi Kyle,
being sighted, typing su to become root then "pkg install orca" was not an
issue. currently they have orca 41.0, speech-dispatcher 0.10.2, no conflict
that I could detect. I also did:
pkg install nano
pkg install geany
pkg install lxqt (got the last version, 1.0.0)
plk install lumina
The added destkops, as well as Mate, went full featured without a hitch,
with all
their dependencies.
I have considered porposing Eric to help him make GhostBSD accessible
from the
beginning of installation, as Slint. Too bad that the days have only 24
hours
where I live...
Cheers,
Didier

Interesting. I may give this GhostBSD a try again. It's been a while,
but the last time I tried it, I couldn't get orca speaking because there
was some kind of conflict between it and Python, which was much older at
the time than the version of Orca that shipped with it. GhostBSD was
shipping with GNOME at that time, which does mean that it has been a
very long time since I used it. The problem is that most BSD's run a lot
of software that is older than Debian. I did want to play with something
like this at some point though. How did you get orca installed? I mean
how did you get a root login on a non-talking system?
