You shouldn't have any problem installing lightdm-slick-greeter. But since you 
already have lightdm-dtk-greeter installed, you can configure 
/etc/lightdm/gtk-greeter.conf with

[greeter]
reader=orca
a11y-states=reader

I think that's all you should need to make it speak to you, but your mileage may 
vary. Hope it helps.
