Re: [orca-list] Anybody tried Fedora 29 yet?

Hi All.

I will add some clarifications regarding Fedora-MATE-Compiz.
Applications that have a graphical interface that require super-user rights must be run using the command line. Example:

sudo -E gparted

Some applications, such as Caja and Pluma, are accessible even without the -E option. The system-config-users application is not accessible in any way; But I suspect it s due to the QT variables ... Note: after installing Fedora-MATE-Compiz, you need to enable accessibility support in the MATE settings. Otherwise, some applications will not be accessible. All of the above applies to Fedora-28; But, most likely, this is also true for Fedora-29.
Also, some Fedora-MATE-Compiz problems described here by me:

I played with the beta a bit and found that, in Fedora Mate, you will not have
accessibility with any gui apps that require super-user; this includes the 'add
users' app. I also found that I could not get anything that needs qt
accessibility to work; this in both Mate and Gnome. Regarding gnome, I think
you'll find the same accessibility limits as in other Gnome 3.30 setups. That
is, the well-known issues with the settings dialogues and the trouble getting
orca 3.30 to stay focused in the terminal. Conclusion: Fedora's Gnome seems as
accessible as Gnome can be, while its Mate edition can use a little work. Is
Fedora 29 officially out yet?

HTH,

Dave

I will hopefully get chance to try Fedora 29 over the weekend.

Has anyone had chance to give it a spin yet? Any known issues or nasty surprises I should be expecting when it comes to Orca or accessibility
