You don't have to install inaccessible programs. Just go into aptitude and disable the automatic
installation of suggested packages. Then,
aptitude install gnome-session-fallback gdm3 gnome-orca
Before hitting y for the installations to take place, carefully scan the list of suggested packages it will
not install. Write down the ones you want and either install them with another aptitude command or, pres n
for no and retype aptitude install and include them this time. I use this method successfully to build
Debian installations without pulse audio. I get a fully functioning desktop with only the apps I want and
the sound system I want. Best of all, I don't have to install from source. If you want to make it easier on
yourself, run aptitude from within an Emacs shell so you can kill and yank lines containing a series of
packages you want to install. I've done that to save typing.

Alex M

I like Debian better than Ubuntu and I would configure my /etc/apt/sources.list file so that the testing
repository is used.
The annoying parts of Debian are no jockey-gtk applet to easily install wifi and other drivers, no real
firefox or thunderbird. Also the standard GNOME Desktop makes you install non-assessible programs.
I installed fitefox from source.

Wheezzy has 3.4.2 so it is just like precise. I cannot speak for the
other since I have not tried them in recent months I would imagine that
Sid has 3.6.0 or something like that. It should be possible for you to
do a search online as to what packages are in Sid.

Is there any differences in orca performance when it comes to the
three distros? If so, what ones are they? I am trying to find an
