Re: [orca-list] talking gdm with orca in fedora

If I recall correctly, Robert installed from a Fedora Live image. Those
images are necessarilyminimal, especially as they still try to fit
themselves onto CD ROM media.

My first expectation is a missing library of some kind.

If this is correct, it points out the value of preferring the full
version DVD image. However, there's still no reason to reinstall as
entire groups of related technologies can be installed by yum. To see a
list of these groups, do:

yum grouplist

You'll need to pipe this to more, or even into a file. Also, the groups
sometimes have spaces, so need special handling when you do the:

yum groupinstall [group]

command.

I would encourage you to look for solutions without reinstalling. If
you'd like to say more about your "out of range" error, I'll try to
help. Did you check in /var/log/messages for more details on that
message?

If there's a separate log file for X server messages, I would suggest looking
there as well.

I have never had to re-install a Linux system due to a software problem.
