It would help, since Gwibber is currently based in wkgtk afaik, but
prior to that, you should get "caret browsing" mode activated in
gwibber, so you can actually navigate with the text cursor through the
text of the messages.
There's a bug open in launchpad about that, not sure whether it got
fixed or not upstream:

Also, there's a link in that bug to a email I've sent in the past with a
quick example of how caret browsing could be enabled in gwibber.
