What test sound under Soundcard detection?
How can you hear a test sound if no device is detected?

How can gnome-sound-recorder be related to GnomeMeeting?

Just install aplay, but Im confused now, I have the feeling you are on
the wrong mailing list or using the wrong program...

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your description of the problem at all
and your mention of the "test sound" functionnality is even more
confusing as gnomemeeting has no such functionnality except in the
configuration assistant where you should hear yourself speaking when
running the test, but that won't work if you have no soundcard detected.
