The thing is, Mozilla is using pure Bayes (AFAIK) and Evo is using
SpamAssassin of unknown (to me) heritage (uses Bayes, but SA has a lot
more besides). My present version is 2.63 and I can do one heck of a lot
to make it work better for my site than Evo can.

Well, why didn't you check the version then? The current dependency
actually is >= 2.63.

How am I supposed to check it when I don't have it? What do you mean by
a "dependency"? How will it get updated? What can the user do to update
info normally kept in /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf for proper SA
installations?

Well, I (maybe mis-) interpreted your comments about versions and
updating -- I somehow took it, as you are assuming an outdated version
to be used. Sorry, if I implied this wrong.

Regarding how to check the version: I already knew the version, but I
made sure by checking Ximian FTP. ;)

Evolution 1.5.x currently depends on SA (dependency like in RPM). The
update path AFAIK is the same as for every other application like
Evolution: Get fixed versions, where you initially got it from (that is
your distro vendor or Ximian).

Most distros already ship with SA these days. And you aren't complaining
about them too, are you?

Dobey (Ximian) indeed provides packages since the dependency got added.
Thus anyone who got Evolution from from Ximian will get SA updates by
Ximian, too.

All in all, I'm not looking forward to moving to 1.5.

Have you seen it all, yet?

Make that "Have you see it at all, yet?"...

Nope. I haven't seen one tiny bit of it ;)

That's my point.

You are arguing about a topic, you only know as much as anyone else just
reading this list. I fail to see, how you can have a mind of your own at
all, if you don't know what actually gets done and how it is done.

As you mentioned yourself in the other post, your opinion is based upon
ignorance. That's as lousy an opinion as it can be. And frankly, I got
to know you with a different attitude.
