By your same logic using Etherpad for meeting notes, having a Mumble
server and even a Wiki is wasteful. You don't even need a website at
all.
That sounds like a strawman argument as it ignores the aspect of
duplication of already existing functionality. [How could the
functionality provided by the GNOME website (worldwide accessible
representation of the project) be provided by anything similar?]
