It seems that checkinstall is broken. It tries to use the .spec file,
but fails to expand the macros there, thus trying to use weird package
name and version.

Even after removing the .spec, it fails in getting the correct version
from config.log.

As I see, these are not problems in EasyTAG, but in checkinstall. I
created a bug[1] with a patch for the first problem.
