In some cases the search can take several minutes, so "instant apply"
incremental search here would not be possible, e.g. searching for
message content on an IMAP folder.
In any case the same situation applies with the Web browser, as
I pointed out earlier, and you can't do http-as-you-type there,
as it doesn't make sense until you've finished typing the URI.
Similarly for a Location bar in a file browser, or in file/open.
