FWIW, as far as needing Javascript/Links/lynx/w3m/other text mode, 
non-JS using browsers go, in my experience...

The page loads, but the login forms simply do not show up at all, you 
have a login page...with nowhere to log in using a text mode browser. 
I've got a local instance with the latest git commits and still run into 
this
