Re: [orca-list] Funding bug fixes

There are very specific things in Libre Office which need attention.

Specially those related to spreadsheet (very minor things like performance ) and some things in writer.

I think those will be easy to solve.

The Thunderbird issue is similar to Kaja.

So that can be thought about as well.

Happy hacking.

But, yeah, start with smaller fish.

Joanie kindly helped us out with a hack, but we should test the
ability of this group to get things done by actually fixing the Caja
bug at the source.

LibreOfice is also extremely important, but lets see if we can fix
small bugs before we take on giant lizzards. :) Alternatively, we
could choose one or two important strategic bugs in LibreOffice and
target that together with Caja large folders.

Hi,

Making Libreoffice more accessible is a complex task which is very
expensive. While working on the interface can be done without so much
pain, working on the document rendering (regardless the component) is
a high much hard work.

But with a crowd funding, I think it is probably possible to improve
PDF accessibility. A work had been started and funded by GNOME
foundation, so things have been improved. A lot of things need to be
done but probably we could have results with less money collected I
think.

About the Caja bug, as Joanmarie did an advanced work on it, maybe
Igalia could be paid for that? I dontt know her opinion about such idea.

Talk about Impress and even improving accessibility with PDF, Orca is
the last thing to be corrected.

This is outstanding. A PayPal account would make it possible for
F123
to help a bit as well.

Can you tell all of us what would be the next steps and what you
need
from us? it sounds like Hypra can do the work, IAVIT can receive the
money and even contribute some, and F123 might also be able to
contribute a little bit of funding, just to show you guys are not on
your own, plus more support for future bugs.

there was a demand. I would be willing to coordinate funding for

decide on payments. I would be willing to chair the committee -- or
not if someone else wanted to drive it.

IAVIT has some money. We have already pretty much settled on
what to
do with what we have left but I might be able to get IAVIT to
kick in
somewhere between a few hundred to a  couple of thousand
dollars. I'd
have to talk to the board of directors.

I also believe that such important work should be paid because it

It is an important bug and must be solved.
It's now in your hand to make a crowdfunding and help us to invest
to fix this bug smile :).
