All right.
Thanks a million all of you.
I have now decided to download Debian Stretch because it has an
accessible version of Mate as per the version check you all provided.
Any one here has tryed using the Debian's text based installer and
installed Mate with it?
What next to do for configuring it?
How about having it start Orca on login prompt?
And will the notifications for wifi, battery and other stuff be announced?
Happy hacking.

Hello,
Mate is a good alternative to Gnome. The only thing that stops it from
being fully accessible is that it has no magnifier fora low vision

one built into Gnome.

The latest Orca works with MATE without any problems. I currently run
a fairly recent master branch version from git. The GTK2 libraries
that MATE is using still work with the latest Orca. It's true that
some of the older GNOME2 libraries no longer work, but they are not
being used by MATE.
