Which version is in Arch? I got OwnCloud 6 from the actual third party ppa and found it too troublesome to
both with much after I noticed that it was taking like 15 minutes to upload a simple mp3 file if I was
outside my home network via dynamic DNS. Every other web application I had did just fine. Something is the
matter with Owncloud that makes it slow to take in files. As for its license, I am not a php coder so, I
don't worry about it with that product too much as long as it's open source. I'd be just as happy with a
BSD, CPL or Apache license and the odd proprietary component or two if it meant improved functionality.
Ultimately, that's the name of the game. Does it work or not? Does it do what you need it to do, or not?

OwnCloud is much faster now since the newest version. It's really good now, and it's based on free and open
standards with free and open source code, which is always good. The client and server have also both been
placed into the Arch Linux community repository, which although not perfect, is at least a small indicator of
how good it is now, as previously it had a lot of votes, but was kept in AUR, probably to mature somewhat
before entering the official repository. In any case, I'm having less trouble with OwnCloud than I initially
did with Ubuntu One, but Canonical also fixed the problems they were having at the beginning of their run.
Too bad they shut that service down, and still haven't released the promised source code for their serverside
component. It truly was one of the best.
