Yes, a seperate beep volume would be ideal, but do not know if it would be hard to code.
I'm not in the pulse hating camp, but I must say I've heard some hardware this last several months that does
not get along wih pulse, and the little
hacks that fix it on some systems do not work consistently on the machines I'm talkng about.
That's OT, but just saying that there will be people looking to avoid pulse for the foreseeable future, and
not even talking about the reactionary
types who long for a world where time was frozensometime way back when, and whos fallback plan is freezing it
today.
I have not tried cutting back o voice volume, but I think that would not effect beep volume, so in the case
that backing the beep off to where it's a
bit too quiet for some they could just turn their voice volume down and raise overall system volume some.

I really don't have a problem with the 100ms beep time, but maybe it
could be reduced to 75ms for those people who feel it's too long. 50ms
IMO could be too short. Also, could we get an option to configure the
overall beep volume? I know this can be done via GNOME's sound settings
or pavucontrol, but there are those people who just don't like
Pulseaudio for one reason or another, and there are also problems with
it specifically on the earlier Raspberry Pi models, so in something
like Orca, a separate beep volume option would be highly beneficial.
Thanks for the great start, BTW.
