In Trisquel 7, the unity greeter is accessible. To get a talking loginscreen, use 'ctrl+s' on the greeter. Once you are logged in, you maystill need to killall speech-dispatcher, else, lightdm's speechdispatchers keep running and may use most of one cpu core's resources.
