I don't know how you are using the mbrola voices, but they are capable
of changing rate and pitch (and volume although that's done in eSpeak).
For example, from a command-line compare:
espeak -v mb-en1 "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9"
espeak -v mb-en1 -p 100 "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9"
espeak -v mb-en1 -s 250 "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9"
espeak -v mb-en1 -a 200 "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9"
This uses eSpeak as a front-end for mbrola. The eSpeak voice "mb-en1"
uses the "en1" mbrola voice. You can use "mb-nl2" for the "nl2" Dutch
voice if you have that installed.
