I seem to remember, that I once installed snd. I got an application with a prompt, that allowed me to enter scheme, but it was not very nice. :-) If we're talking about language drivn system's, I'd rather prefer csound or CLM. Both can be written in any editor and with the more powerful editors you can compile and/or run your work directly from inside the editor. They both are classified as synthesizers, but in a very broad way. :-)
