If we're talking about language drivn system's, I'd rather prefer
csound or CLM. Both can be written in any editor and with the more
powerful editors you can compile and/or run your work directly from
inside the editor. They both are classified as synthesizers, but in
a very broad way. :-)
Snd, as I understand it, is not a synthesizer; it's a sound file editor.
The Scheme programming language is used to implement/extend aspects of the
editor. Think of it as similar to emacs.
As I said, though, no ATK accessibility work has been done.
