Re: [orca-list] qt-at-spi problems

Hey Attila.

Very interesting, but nothing changed after I pull now latest master
version source, doing the general recompile and reinstall.

On the contrary, something *did* change. The error is now popping up
elsewhere. <smiles tiredly>

Orca's code was not written expecting so many dead accessibles, I'm
afraid. So at the moment this stuff has to be caught in a number of
locations. In my sandbox I have begun work on adding some code which
deals with this in one place so we don't have to handle it in many.
(Ditto with the unicode encode/decode errors that we now see in this
post-introspection world.) However, this is going to be a big refactor
and given how close we are to code freeze, and given all of the other
breakage we are seeing in the components Orca provides access to, I will
not be making this change until after 3.4. My goal right now is to keep
Orca stable going into code freeze next week. As a result, that means
handling these dead accessible errors (and the unicode encode/decode
errors) in multiple places.

So.... I have just handled the new traceback in master. Hopefully that
will be all of them for your Skype menu items, but it might not be. Dead
accessibles are tricky. So if you wouldn't mind some
rinse-and-repeating, please pull master and try again. If the error
bubbles up someplace else, send me the traceback and I'll fix it. Then
try again. Perhaps, however, we should take this off list and then
report to the list once they've all been fixed and skype menu items are
spoken. That way you and I can deal with this without being spammy --
and you can get the problem fixed now without having to wait for me to
set up a Qt testing environment.

Thanks and take care.
