Hi Alex and all,
Actually there is an easier way. As soon as Ubuntu boots, you here the
drumb roll when LightDM comes up, just press control+s for orca and
then tab to the sessions button, press enter on it, and select Gnome
from the list of desktops. That will switch your default desktop
environment to Gnome-Shell which is what you want for maximum
accessibility.
