Re: [orca-list] Speech Dispatcher and OpenTTS

Yes, I realize the possible duplication. What I wonder though, might
speech dispatcher and opentts part ways and end up with different
interfaces or formats? If so, it would be necessary to keep them
separate. If they will remain fairly similar, then these modules can
be possibly subclassed or something. I don't like duplication but the
future might force the issue; not sure here. Also, as soon as I heard
that any newer versions of opentts wouldn't work with Orca, I felt we
had to do something quickly. I'd be glad to move forward with some
possible way to centralize some of the code. I figure I might need
some help with fully understanding what is going on in there and which
stuff should be split out or what. That effort might take several
days at a minimum to figure out.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for doing this!

Instead of repeating code, can you see a way of factoring out the common
code, and then have sd and opentts as small sub classes that contain the
diffrences between themselves?

While I can understand why you might want this at the moment, I don't think this will be the best way
forward, as there is a good chance that the OpenTTS python API will change somewhat in the future.
Factorising code like this now will only create more work in the future.
