Thanks Kennie for the heads-up. Since I have the python library
components in place in the site-packages directory, What else do I
need to do to get Orca to default to speech dispatcher back-end prior
to starting it up. I'm sure if it was talking already, I could get in
there and make the selections. Do I need to use gnome-speech instead
to begin with and change this later? I could use gnome-speech and
espeak and leave speech dispatcher out of the equation until I get
this figured out. Would that be a better idea?

It is a bad idea to assume all Linux distros do things the same way. When you see a post from someone
running a
different distro from you, don't reply unless you know how that distro does things. If you reply any way,
you just confuse everyone and look bad.
