More exactly, SD itself does support it, but the Orca backend doesn't.
That makes no difference for the user, but it is good to know it...
Speech Dispatcher is a mature system, however the Orca backend is in an
early stage of development.  I will try to improve it as my time allows
me.  Since the functionality is already present in SD, it is not that
difficult...

To complicate things a little more, it is possible to set the
punctuation in SD config files, but this setting is currently ignored by
the espeak output module.  It should work, however, for festival and
most other synths.
