I wonder if there may be some sort of buffer underflow going on with the
portion of the espeak library that talks directly to the audio device.
This might explain why SpeechDispatcher may not have this problem:
SpeechDispatcher needs to wait for an entire wav before it plays
anything whereas the espeak/PortAudio solution can start playing samples
as soon as it gets them.
