Hi Michael,
I did the same but already with SD 0.6.1 with Ubuntu and it works.
Starting SD as user "speech-dispatcher" and group "audio" made it start,
but produces no speech output.
There is a dir speech-dispatcher under /var/run, but it's empty. The
speech-dispatcher.pid is located in /var/run.
