Agreed.  The change to anonymous voting seems to be contentious
enough that it requires an explicit referendum.  Whether that takes
place as part of the election, or after it, seems like a decision
best left to the people who will count the votes.  Which ever is
easier for the elections committee.

I clearly prefer anonymous voting. I'm sure we can find some time to
organize this referendum, but this requires starting it really soon now
(it has to end before November 21st, when the ballots for the elections
go out). The question is whether this quickly-organized referendum might
be seen as a way to discretly establish anonymous voting during the
elections, or not.

Referendum is technically possible, but it might not be a wise thing to
do it during the elections. This last part should be evaluated by the
board and not by the membership committee.
