I haven't seen the Aero effect, so, do the raised window go back to
where they were before after you move the mouse down from them? If so,
I like the idea, else prepare for a big rant about how it would mess
up the desktop badly ;).

Also, does Click+Drag work with a touchpad? (Never tried it :P).

About the workspaces, IMHO the best would be to have them like in your
last mockup but showing them the same way as they would be displayed
in the overlay.
