There's slightly more base overhead for Hello, World, but some of the
main components (namely Nautilus) use a lot less overall. The net
effect of GNOME 2 (so far) is that it seems slightly faster/smaller,
at least to me. Other people have said it seems slower. It probably
depends on which specific app or widget you are clicking on to
test.
