I still feel that the new behavior is the right way to go. Though if all people

prefers the new behavior I'm not going to be a opposed as I can live with that.

Thought when the new smart indentation lands, I will consider the new behavior

again.

How about only removing the trailing whitespace if the line has
non-whitespace in it as well ??

So lines with only whitespace aren't touched.....
