I am running Linux on an older lower powered machine, so if I am not

you can remove the calendar files in /usr/share/oaf so that the calendar
and task components are not found by OAF, so not loaded.
Thank you, Rodrigo. Will this save me some memory use or just remove
the calendar from my view?
well, this is an ugly hack to just not load the calendar component. So
it won't display and won't be loaded in memory.
Thanks. A couple more follow up questions.
1. Found 3 Calendar related oaf files, but none obviously related
to Tasks. What should I look for?
GNOME_Evolution_Calendar.server is the one
2. How about the importer files? They seem to be used at most once
per installation, yet they seem to be loaded into memory evey
time. Can I safely get rid of these too?
if you don't have the calendar components, you don't need the importers
neither.
I plan to move these to another directory so that I can reinstall them
if ever needed.
do whatever you want. Doing all this you're doing a totally unsupported
thing. It shouldn't affect other parts, but maybe it does, so you're on
your own :-)
cheers
