You are very right. It's been a long time since I've looked carefully
at my folder tree--since I switched my mail server to IMAP from POP, I
got sick of seeing the extraneous "Local folders" and annoyed by the
fact that my folder bar must now be wider, since the IMAP folders are
indented further to the right.
Further to the right, yep -- but only one level, the equivalent of 16
pixels...
I don't think it is that bad. In fact I prefer that one, as my Inbox
isn't sorted alphabetically into my mail folders. It's justs the
namespace and it reminds me of my Inbox _not_ being in my namespace --
for backup purposes. ;-)

btw: Just like you I left the original message marked 'unread', as I
didn't got that straight the first few times I read that...
