Re: [Evolution] question on trash vfolders

Jason,

I keep all of my mail in ~/Maildir/ (maildir format). I do not have a
~/Maildir/Trash/ or ~/Maildir/trash/ maildir, though a "Trash" vfolder
shows up as a child node of my home maildir tree in evolution, which I
have named "Maildir".

I have 2 questions...

First, when I have "hide deleted messages" checked in evolution 1.2.4,
all deleted mail goes into the the "Maildir/Trash" vfolder
automatically. Is there a way to define where this goes?

Nope, not to my knowledge. You stated the important bit: It is a virtual
Folder.

As 'deleted' mail gets marked for deletion and isn't instantly removed,
those mails stay in their folders until expunged. The vFolder 'Trash'
only is a list with all those messages, marked for deletion.

It is no real folder. Some mail clients handle that differently: They
create a real folder 'Trash' and move the messages there. However, at
least for IMAP that really is _not_ the action, you just performed.
(move != delete)

FWIW: AFAIK you are stuck to that vFolder ATM. Check bugzilla, if you
don't like that and comment on the wishes for real Trash folders.

Second, when I click Actions | Empty Trash, none of the mail that is in
my "Maildir/Trash" vfolder gets deleted. Furthermore, if have selected
the "Maildir/Trash" vfolder, and try to delete e-mails from there,
nothing happens.

Uh... Sorry, I don't use maildir format. IMAP accounts and (for testing
purposes) the local folders (mbox) only.

Are you sure, the 'Trash' is really a maildir? I don't know, but at
least your statement seems ambiguous:
Is it a "Maildir/Trash" or a "vFolder"?

Dunno, if that really helps...
