There's a great phoenix/firebird plugin that has small bars underneath
the browser window to show current downloads. They show up as horizontal
bars and can either disappear to persist according to user prefs, and
mousing over them gives you more info. The name slips my mind but having
something as elegant as this would certainly be an improvement, imo at
least, over the current download manager which is a little clunky and
requires extra keypresses that user's can do without. just my 2c :)
