Hi there!

Let me explain again how x264 is used by Ekiga. By default, OPAL
dynamically loads the x264 plugin at runtime. The x264 plugin executes
a separate GPLed process, which in turn dynamically loads libx264. In
case this failes, the GPLed process tells this to the plugin which in
turn disables itself.
Thank you for the explanation!
Now the packages should be compiled with x264 header files present,
and, with libx264 suggested.
While this is perfectly OK for packages hosted in a non-official Debian
repository (like seconix.com), AFAIK this won't be the case for the
official Debian package, which unfortunately will completely lack x264
support.
This because Debian distinguishes three different kind of package
categories: main, contrib and non-free [1]. If ekiga build-depends on
x264 (which, BTW, is *still* not present as a Debian package, neither in
non-free), ekiga itself will have to be put in non-free, which is
something I won't prefer.
Thx, bye,

Hi,
I will take care, for official packages, to put libx264* as
build-depends and depends only for ubuntu. Debian will not have 264
support (there's nothing you can do IMO).
