So, it appears Banshee 2.6.1 can SEE tracks on my iPod ok and it can
even delete from it ok but it just can't add tracks to it, while gtkpod can.

gtkpod also uses libgpod, so I'm not sure why gtkpod can add tracks to
my iPod ok while Banshee can no longer do so.

Any ideas as to why this would be the case?
Seems to be a bug in Banshee then.

Please perform again the same test about trying to add a single track,
in Ubuntu 13.10, but launching banshee from the command line with
"banshee --debug".

Then create a bug report in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/ and assign it to
me, and attach the log to the bug report.

Thanks!

Will do.  One other thing I noticed about gtkpod is when I first ran it, it asked me which model of iPod I had connected.  It had an option for the 4th generation iPod shuffle (silver in color even), which had some kind of identifying code associated with it.  Perhaps gtkpod accesses different models of devices differently.   In any event, I'll include that in the bug report I file.

Thanks!

Peace...

Tom
