In fact you have correctly identified a menu item that's totally out of 
place in the Edit menu, as Edit actions usually act on (parts of) the 
document being displayed. However, this has been discussed elaborately, 
until we have some kind of "application" menu that could live in the 
title bar and host items like 'Preferences' and 'About', it's the least 
bad place to put it.
