I'm not asking anyone to do it for me , but the first step to taking the 
initiative is planning , and checking with the developers . The changes 
I want to make are practically almost invisible to the user :
>sweep the library and (.local/share/rhythmbox/) for playlists
>on startup load normal playlists from the files on the disk
>save new normal playlists as files in .local/share/rhythmbox/ 
(automatic playlists stay in playlists.xml)
>watch the playlists' files for changes on runtime and 
update/remove/add them if needed .

 I don't expect you to accept my changes just like that , I just need a 
"yeah that's good logic , if you do it right we'll implement it" , and 
I'll happily branch and code . I just don't have the time (or desire) to 
make a personal fork of RB in the case that somebody says "We're not 
merging that , we're happy with the .xml format we have for playlists" .
