Huh ? I send a mail to everyone outlining issues, and everyone except
you was expecting 0.10 to be the default backend and is fine with moving
ahead. Given that we don't have a whole lot of time to wait on, I think
it's fine to move ahead.

For the record, there are two possible rollback ways so there's no need
to explicitly block tim any longer. Releases can still be made from the
2-12 branch (it is almost exactly the same except for some minor
ui/translation fixes I commited), and this tag allows us to roll back.
This isn't irreversible :) This is just about getting this landed on
HEAD so we can roll some *development* releases.

(for the record, this is:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324508)

Tim has replied to all the issues, I'm sure he will incorporate your
feedback in the patches. But I don't feel there is anything wrong with
him starting to commit the parts of patches that are ok. Remember -
this is just HEAD, not a stable tarball.

Your concern was noted, but I didn't see that many other people voice
the same concerns. Ideally I would want to wait on your opinion, but
the feature freeze is approaching and I don't think we have the time to
wait for you to actually look at gstreamer 0.10 and decide if it's
ready. There's lots of people who feel it is ready, especially for
gnome-media's needs (remember, your concern about other formats does not
really apply there, that applies to totem) - do you really feel we
should wait until you get round to it ?

It seems to me everybody was working towards gstreamer 0.10 as part of
the next GNOME, most people were taking it for granted. I sent the mail
to verify if this was the case, because I was surprised at some of your
blog entries and bug comments, which seem to indicate you felt
differently, and I guess some other people asked about the status for
the same reason.

This isn't really something I want to fight over - but I don't see why
we should keep blocking the actual decisions for much longer. Nothing
we do today is irreversible, so I don't see a good reason for
obstructing the actual flow.

Tim is doing some great work, I don't see why we should make it harder
on him. We're supposed to actually be getting some gnome-media releases
out. Remember - feature freeze and 2.13.5 release is *this monday*.
